Leipheimer WIN A TRIP TO CASTILE AND LEON IN THE COUNTER TO PRINT.

Madrid .- (EFE). The American Levi Leipheimer won the 24th edition Friday Tour of Castilla and Leon, after playing the fifth and final stage of a trial which finished second the other Astana teammate, English Alberto Contador, who impressed in the mountains or in the time trial.

The last stage, 152 km from Benavente (Zamora) and Valladolid, in a race marked the first day by the withdrawal of American Lance Armstrong, who broke his collarbone, was won the sprint comfortably in English Alejandro Valverde (the Caisse d'Epargne), who won the third stage on Wednesday.

Contador, winner of two previous editions of the Tour of Castilla and Leon, had predicted that the 2009 would be decided in Tuesday's individual time trial of 28.2 km, and he was right. Leipheimer, the best in this exercise that Contador, English exceeded by 16 seconds, the difference that separates them in the final general classification.

But the English seem to have improved much in the time trial was in the lead even halfway, but loosened a bit at the end. Contador, one of the favorites for the Tour de France he won in 2007, was also very comfortable in the two mountain stages, but chose to work for Leipheimer and has no doubt with the help of his deputy later. For example, in the Tour de France.
